volunteerism1_1Volunteerism is critical to the lifeblood of all charitable organizations and good for the soul. We at Success Center SF rely on our volunteers to support us in many different ways: guest speakers, tutors, mentors, to raise money, donate school supplies, plan events, etc.

We practice what we preach. Recently, Success Center SF Staff volunteered for the Bay Area Deputy Sheriff’s Foundation Annual Holiday Shopping Spree. The Bay Area Deputy Sheriff’s Foundation takes low income kids shopping twice a year (for back-to-school and holidays). They take over the Colma Target store at the crack of dawn and ensure that these young people have a coat, some shoes and clothes — the young people can then use any remaining dollars to buy whatever they want. There has never been a time in the history of the program that I’ve met a young person who wasn’t thoughtful or didn’t buy something for another family member. I love this program!Thank you Bay Area Deputy Sheriff’s Foundation for another opportunity to serve our community!!

And, if anyone reading this article is interested in a volunteer or internship opportunity with Success Center SF please contact us at 415-753-7690.

In community,

Liz Jackson-Simpson,
Executive Director, Success Center SF
