Carpentry Instructor

 

AND’s Employment Training Center and Success Center SF are seeking a Carpentry Instructor to join our team.   The mission of ETC and Success Center SF is to advance program and policies that empower, transform and improve quality of life for underserved San Francisco residents and offer true pathways out of poverty to lasting self-sufficiency.

 

Position Description: Responsible for education and hands-on-training of program participants in basic carpentry to prepare them for entry-level jobs in the construction trades. The instructor will be responsible for providing introductory training in all aspects of our curriculum from start to finish of constructing a tiny house including: plumbing, electrical work, framing, dry wall and the ability to instruct in the “Green/Environmental Literacy aspects of construction such as weatherization, solar, deconstruction and recycling.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to instill strong ethics, values and sense of self-esteem with individuals who face many social and employment barriers and provide a positive role model through his/her actions, behaviors and accountability.

 

Salary: negotiable DOE.

Motor Vehicle Operator

The United States Postal Service is currently hiring qualified Class A and Class B CDL drivers to fill immediate positions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Motor Vehicle Operators operate a mail truck on a pre-established route to pick up and transport mail in bulk. Other duties include loading and strapping the mail into the truck and unloading.

City Carrier Assistant

Delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions in a prescribed area. This is a physical, fast paced, outdoor position that requires continual lifting and carrying packages that may weigh up to 70lbs (typical packages are less than 40lbs). Drivers need excellent customer service skills, a good driving record, an aptitude to operate handheld GPS/scanner, and the ability to work independently. Weekends required. Positions available in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Marin, and Sonoma counties. Driving required.

Elevator Attendant

 

($16 hourly. Part Time and Full Time, Weekdays and Weekends)

 

The Elevator Attendant will be responsible for the operation and cleanliness of the elevators between the street level entrance to the concourse level and the BART level to the SFMTA level. The purpose of the position is to provide a clean, safe, and operating elevator. Attendants will also ensure reliability to those who depend on the elevators (patrons with disabilities, families with strollers, and patrons with luggage). Through active engagement with the public and providing excellent customer service.

 

The Elevator Attendant will be responsible for collecting data and administering surveys to patrons.

 

Elevator Attendants will be responsible for each of the following duties:

  • Operating the street and platform elevators by pushing the buttons for customers.
  • Ensure that elevators are appropriately utilized by BART/MUNI patrons.
  • Ensure the elevators are safe by addressing any inappropriate or illegal activities in and around elevators and elevator platforms, with effective communication or contacting BART police and/or SFPD, as appropriate.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the elevators and elevator platforms by pleasantly reminding patrons not to litter, clearing any litter or debris from BART/MUNI elevators and elevator platforms, or by promptly contacting BART/MUNI janitorial services, as appropriate.
  • Maintain constant communication with appropriate representatives of BART/MUNI to ensure smooth operations of the elevators and contribute to the safe and clean environment of the Civic Center and Powell Street Stations.
  • Greet and engage with patrons and provide assistance connecting them with the appropriate BART/MUNI representatives to answer any questions regarding ticket purchases, hours of operation, routes, etc.
  • Collecting data for reporting purposes.

 

Skill in:

  • Working effectively both independently and with a crew. Understanding and following oral and written directions.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must have California Identification Card
  • Must have High School Diploma and or GED

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess sufficient physical ability to walk, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, stand and twist.
  • Must possess sufficient physical ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Must possess sufficient physical ability to work in a dusty, greasy and dirty environment subject to odors and noise.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Environmental Conditions:

  • Field environment; exposure to inclement weather, dust, grease, dirt, odors and noise.
  • Physical Conditions: Requires maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces.
